SHAH ALAM, June 29: Plans for rural development which is the focus of the State Government in the new term will be based on the suitability of the local residents, said Islamic Affairs, Agricultural Modernisation and Rural Development Exco, Sallehin Mukhyi.

“The industry concerned will depend on the output which is suitable with the residents, whether it is farming, development or otherwise.

“We will run concurrently by other programmes by the State Government. Our focus is for us to urbanize villages, so that what if experienced by urbanites can also be felt by villagers,” said Sallehin when he was met here.

He said that so far, a secretariat committee headed by Political Liaison Officer, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has been established.

“Many parties will be involved in this matter, from the upper levels to the grassroots. This includes Saifuddin, Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, me and village Heads and Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK).

“This committee has already mobilised. Currenlty, we are are in the stage to enhance JKKKs, district officials and Village Heads,” he said when met at the Ramadan Contribution Handing Over Ceremony here at the State Mosque.

Previously, Abdul Khalid informed that more focus will be given to developing rural areas in Selangor such as Kuala Selangor, Tanjong Karang and Sabak Bernam.

The move is for the people in these rural areas to experience the wealth of Selangor which has been concentrated in urban areas such as Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Klang and Ampang.

The development effort includes the construction of infrastructures such as roads and commercial buildings, as well as to generate small industries and open up more job opportunities for the youth.
