SHAH ALAM, 4 Jan: The former Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Muhammad Mohd Taib, said that Umno is ‘acting’ to show that the party is Islamic by playing the ‘Allah’ word.
“All of a sudden, today Umno is acting very Islamic with the issue of the ‘Allah’ word. As though the country has become very Islamic just by demonstrating in front of churches.
“In my opinion, the country today is still not being guided by the al-Quran and Sunnah. A good atmosphere, according to the Prophet’s teachings is not followed,” he said, quoted from Harakah Daily.
He said that the atmosphere is more towards a secular way of life, with the celebration of all holidays, including the New Year, being celebrated the same way.
He said that the electronic and print media does not produce an atmosphere that is according to the Quran and Sunnah.
“In fact, it is full of vices, nonsense being pinned and the Islamic essence is not seen. Children coming out of schooling life do not see the Islamic essence.
“Children who are born into this world and raised in the current atmosphere will not follow a way guided by the Quran and Sunnah. Because it is not its agenda,” he said.
He said that in fact, the responsibility to follow the Quran and Sunnah encompasses all of life.
“Brunei has already taken steps towards and administration and life guided by the Quran and Sunnah. Hopefully, they will be successful,” said the Deputy Chairman of the Central PAS Information and Relations Lajnah.
