Najib Razak Should Learn from Erdogan in Being Assertive Regarding International Affairs

SHAH ALAM, 12 Jan: The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, should learn from the assertive principle of the Turkish Prime Minister, Tayyip Erdogan, in international affairs, especially involving the interests of Muslims.

The PAS Youth Internal Lajnah Chairman, Dr Raja Ahmad Al His, said that many things should be emulated by Najib, not only Erdorgan’s assertiveness, but also his success in administration.

He said that the world can see how Erdogan strongly condemned the Egyptian coup government when Dr Morsi was overthrown by El-Sisi’s regime.

Erdogan did not only vociferously condemn, but he sent aid to the people of Syria when Basyar Asad killed his own people.

“Erdogan is the only leader who is outspoken when criticising the United States and its ally, Israel, regarding the wrongfulness of their foreign policy.

“Without fear, Erdogan also declared that he wanted to revive the Ottoman rule in his country which is still tainted with secularism,” he said, quoted from Harakah Daily.

From that aspect, he said, Malaysia under Najib is seen being far behind, in fact it is often seen as being mousy when facing international issues involving the interests of the United States and Israel.

He was responding to Erdogan’s visit to Malaysia yesterday, as he is on a mission to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Raja Iskandar said that Erdogan successfully transformed the political and economic landscape of his country from a country that was behind to a developed country respected by the world.

His success in leading the government and the country is driven by honesty, transparency, accountability, prioritising the people and fighting against corruption and wastage.

Erdogan was brave to take action against officials and cabinet ministers who abused power, including firing them.

“We need to study the ancient and modern history of Turkey, where demographically Turkey is located between Asia and Europe but managed to stand on its own without depending on any superpower.

“That is why Erdogan is hailed as being one of the greatest and successful modern leaders and it is not impossible for Najib to be able to achieve greatness like Erdogan,” he said.
