SHAH ALAM, NOV 28: The State Government is offering Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) units as temporary residences for landslide victims in Taman Idaman.

Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlement Exco Dato’ Iskandar Abdul Samad said that the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) and Perumahan Dan Hartanah Selangor Sdn Bhd (PHSSB) will manage it.

“However, the State Government requires some time to ensure the PPR units are fit to live in,” he said in a statement on the morning of November 28.

128 victims from 26 families were still in the Sekolah Rendah Agama Serendah relocation centre at the time of the report.

It was reported that 32 families were not staying there while another family was sent to hospital due to health reasons.

Prior to this, the National Security Council and the police had declared the landslide area in Taman Idaman, Serendah as a Red Zone closed area.

The decision followed a landslide which created a 150-metres wide hole, with a depth measuring 10-15 metres. A perimeter of 600 metres has been declared as red zone.

In an incident last Saturday at 1 am, a motorcyclist, Mohd Fareez, 21, was injured and sent to the Selayang Hospital for treatment.

No deaths were reported. Meanwhile monitoring and repairing works are ongoing around the clock since November 27.

It was also reported that irrigation under the soil had caused the landslide in the area.
