State Government Ready to Disclose Chemical Contents of the Hang Tuah Pool

SHAH ALAM, 28 Apr: The State Government is ready to reveal to the public the status of chemical contents found in the Hang Tuah pool; a former mining pond.

The Executive Councillor for Youth and Sports, Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, said that so far, all tests carried out on samples taken show that the water is safe for use.

He said that the samples taken have also been thoroughly analysed by the Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS), in collaboration with the Selangor State Health Department (JKNS).

“The State Government has absolutely no objection to do so (reveal the sample test results) to the public.

“There is nothing to hide on this matter,” he said in a special press conference on dam capacity today.

He said this in response to requests for the State Government to reveal the analysis results of the chemical contents of the Hang Tuah pool.

With encouraging developments of the test results, Yunus said that the pumping of water into Sungai Selangor will continue to help increase the flow of river water for the needs of the water treatment plant (WTP).

“Tests showed negative results for Leptospira (rat urine) and complies with parameters of less than 5000 MPN (Most Probable Number) for bacterial elements.

“It also complies with prescribed chemical parameters set by JKNS,” he said.
