KUALA KUBU BHARU, 23 Apr: The prevention to enter the Sungai Selangor Dam experienced by the delegation of Assemblymen and media would not have happened if Syarikat Pengeluar Air Sungai Selangor (Splash) was prepared with staff at the entrance of the dam.
Due to that, the Assemblywoman of Kuala Kubu Bharu, Lee Kee Hiong, said that there was a misunderstanding between the delegation of Assemblyman and media with the security guard on duty because they did not the members of the delegation.
She said that feedback from Splash did not prevent the Assemblymen from entering the dam area, only the media was not allowed to do so.
“The security guard did not know. There should have been Splash staff waiting at the guardhouse who knew me as an Assemblywoman. This is because many of their staff know me as I have visited the Rasa Water Treatment Plant (WTP) two months ago.
“The strange thing was the security guard said that Assemblymen could enter but did not know that I was an Assemblywoman,” she told Selangor Kini after the visit to the dam.
The visit led by Kee Hiong was accompanied by the Assemblyman for Bukit Gasing, R Rajiv, the Assemblyman for Kampung Tunku, Lau Weng San and the Assemblywoman for Damansara Utama, Yeo Bee Yee.
Kee Hiong said that they had informed about the visit to Splash through phone calls followed by messages on Whatsapp.
“This is an area which I represent. I think there is no need (to apply by letter) because this is a critical period. If we have to write letters, we have to wait,” she said.
Prior to that, the delegation of Assemblymen and media were prevented from entering the dam area when they were disallowed by the security guard.
In the visit, which began about 11 am, the delegation of Selangor Assemblymen wanted to review the progress at the dam.
Following that, there was little commotion between the group of Assemblymen and staff at the dam operated by Splash.
After an unfruitful discussion, Kee Hiong and the delegation decided to enter the dam area.
The media were instructed to wait outside until the visit was over.
