SHAH ALAM, JUL 2: Three families from Kampung Rantau Panjang in Klang were struck by calamity less than a week into Syawal celebrations.

The victims were left with only the clothes on their backs when their houses caught fire.

Health, Welfare, Women and Family Development Exco Dr Daroyah Alwi was one of the many individuals who went to their aid.

“This is a terrible test for the families, with the coming Aidilfitri just around the corner.  I wish to express my sympathies to the families and hope that they stay strong in facing this unfortunate incident.

“They are definitely not alone as in this blessed month of Ramadan, many parties – organisations, companies and even individuals – have stepped in to provide aid,” she said.

Each family received basic necessities of a cooking stove, dried foodstuff and some token money.

Investment, Small & Medium Industries, Trade and Transport Exco Dato’ Teng Chang Khim was also present to lend a hand.

In addition, there were also representatives from the Social Welfare Department, Selangor Zakat Board, Klang District and Land Office, as well as Sahabat Penyayang NGO.
